On the eve of Dhaka Commerce College’s Annual Education Week-2019 an inauguration program of the 30th Annual Cultural and Indoor Games Competition has been held at Dhaka Commerce College from 24 July to 31 July, 2019.
About 7 hundred students have taken part in the Cultural Competition and about 11 hundred students have taken part in the Indoor Competition. Besides, teachers and other officials also took part in different competitions. The Champion in the Cultural Competition was Jillin Natith Arafi. The Champion (Male) in the Indoor Games Competition was Farhan Rayat and the Champion (Female) was Mahinur Akter Dipa.
During the education week the various events of cultural competition were : Holy Quran Recitation, Haamd and Naad, Azan, Recitation from Holy Geeta, Country Song, Rabindra Sangeet, Najrul Sangeet, Folk Song, Modern Song, Band Song, Recitation (Bangla), Recitation (English), Acting (Single), Acting (Group), Folk Dance, General Dance, Extempore, Presentation, Handwriting (Bangla), General Knowledge, Drawing, Debating, Documentary, Photography, Business Project Display, Science Project Display, Programming, Power Point Presentation, Web Design and Group Jarigaan.
The events of Indoor Games were Chess, Carom (Single), Carom (Double), Table Tennis (Single), Table Tennis (Double), Badminton (Single), Badminton (Double) and Fencing.
The ending of Dhaka Commerce College’s Annual Cultural and Indoor Games Competition 2019 was announced by The Vice-Principal (Administration) Professor Md. Shafiqul Islam.
The honorable Principal of Dhaka Commerce College Professor Dr. A.F.M. Shafiqur Rahman inaugurated the program. The Vice-Principal (Administration) Professor Md. Shafiqul Islam, Advisor (Academic) Professor Md. Mojahar Jamil, Convener, Sports Committee Professor Dr. Kazi Foyez Ahmmad gave their speeches. The welcome speech was delivered by the Convener of Cultural Committee S M Ali Azam.
In the opening session Principal Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, in his speech, said that sound health is essential for sound education. Students need to be involved with cultural activities and sports beside their academic study, he added. He further added that in its 30 years’ journey, Dhaka Commerce College has made people know about its endeavor to build healthy and intellectual students by creating new vista for co-curricular activities.
Vice-Principal Shafiqul Islam told that Dhaka Commerce College has observed its 29 Education Weeks and now it is celebrating its 30th and it shows that this college’s co-curricular activities are quite visible and practical. He advised the students to be involved in doing cultural activities and enjoying sports for their proper education.
Advisor (Academic) Mojaher Jamil said that 22 players participate in the field for a game but more than 22000 spectators enjoy the game. He advised other students to enjoy the competition.
Convener of Sport Committee Dr. Kazi Foyez told that to be free from social degradation and immoral actions we need to get involved with sports.
Convener of Cultural Committee Ali Azam told that cultural activities are the elements of building a worthy life. He also added that culture is the food of brain and for a better mental development practice of cultural and aestheticism is required.
