Professor Md. Wali Ullah joined as the Vice Principal of Dhaka Commerce College

Md. Wali Ullah, Professor of the Department of Economics, joined as the Vice Principal of Dhaka Commerce College on 15 February 2021 as per the decision of a meeting of Dhaka Commerce College Governing Body on 13 February 2021.

Professor Md. Wali Ullah began his career at Dhaka Commerce College as a Lecturer in the Dept of Economics in 1992. He got promoted as Assistant professor in 1998. Later he got promoted as Associate professor in 2006 and as Professor in 2017. 

He served as the Chairman of the Dept of Economics for more than eleven years and as Student Advisor for almost six years. He was the Secretary of the Teachers Council of Dhaka Commerce College from 1999 to 2011. Professor Md. Wali Ullah also served as the Secretary of Teachers Cooperative Society (currently Teachers-Officers-Staffs Welfare Association) from 1994 to 1997 and from 1999 to 2003.

He was the elected Teachers Representative of Dhaka Commerce College Governing Body in 2009, 2011 and 2018-19.

Apart from academic activities of the college he served as Member in different important committees at different times. Besides, he led 18 sub-committees of the college as the Convener.  Professor Md. Wali Ullah was awarded Gold Medal in the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the College as a recognition of his contribution to the excellence of the institution. Moreover, he was awarded ‘The Best Teacher Award’ in 1996.    

Professor Md. Wali Ullah obtained BSS (Honours) Degree securing the 8th position in the combined merit list from Jagannath College under Dhaka University in 1986 and MSS degree in 1987. Later he obtained MBA degree from Stamford University in 2011.

Professor Md. Wali Ullah authored the book ‘Mathematical Economics’ for Honours & Masters classes. Besides, he authored the books ‘Bank Management and Monetary Policy‘ for Honours and Masters classes and co-authored ‘Micro Economics’ for Honours classes.

He has six published research articles in recognized journals. Besides, he wrote a good number of essays in the college magazine ‘Progati’, a yearly publication. Moreover, he presented a few seminar papers at Dhaka Commerce College Teachers Training Programme.  

 Professor Md. Wali Ullah successfully completed advanced training courses organized by National University. Besides, he successfully completed  training courses organized by Bangladesh Orthonity Samity and Dhaka Commerce College.

Professor Md. Wali Ullah is a scholar from the village Narayankat under Nangolkot upzila of Cumilla district. He passed SSC Examiantion from Baiara Jainal High School in 1981 and HSC Exmination from Feni Govt. College in 1983. His father is late Md. Selamath Ullah Miajee and mother is late Hajera Khatun. His wife Ayesha Khathun, obtaining B. Sc. (Hons) and M. Sc. degrees. His eldest son ANM Rifat Wali Aditya is studying Computer Science and Engineering at AIUB and youngest son Md. Shadman Wali Aungshu is studying in Class II at Monipur High School.
