Nature Study Club

Established: 2006

Motto: If the nature and the environment are protected, future working enthusiasm will be promoted.

Aim: It appears that people living amidst nature are forgetting their natural environment. In order to make them aware of their indifference towards the natural environment and make them vigilant of the natural disasters created by this indifference and to warn them about the future risk the club is formed.

Activities: It is to noted that the members of this club have already participated in many activities such as visiting different places of geographical interest and fair (nature related).

Dhaka Commerce College Language Club (DCCLC)

Established: 2012

Moderator (2016): Khayrul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of English

Motto: Empowerment through Language.

Goals: The goal of the club is to encourage the students to learn different languages especially English in a better way so that they can be able to maintain a smart communication with rest of the world.

Activities: The club has included day-to-day conversation, debating, spelling competition, reading and writing competition, extempore speech competition etcetera in the list of its regular activities.

Voice of America (VOA) Fan Club

Theme: Be Self-Reliant to Face the Challenges of 21St Century.

Activities:

1. Celebrate Ist Installation Ceremony of DCC VOA Fan Club: The 1st Installation Ceremony of DCC VOA Fan Club ÔCreation-97’ celebrated on 16th August 1997. The theme of this club in this year is ÔBe Self-Reliant to Face the Challenges of 21st Century.’ VOA Bangla Service Chief Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest. U.S.I.S. Deputy Director Robeart Kerr and VOA Service Reporter Rokeya Haidar were the special guests. Principal Professor Kazi Md. Nurul Islam Faruky presided over the ceremony. Speech by VOA Bangladesh Reporter Zahirul Alam, VOA Central Organiser Shafiqur Rahman and VOA Organizing Secretary Azharul Islam. In his welcome address Ali Azam expressed his feeling as the founder President of this club. Program of 1997-98 announcement made by General Secretary Faisal Uddin Ahmed.

2. Tree Plantation Program: 15th October 1997 a tree plantation program was held at Dhaka Commerce College campus, which was arranged by Bangladesh Young Tourist Club (YTC), Mirpur Unit and DCC VOA Fan Club. Prof. Dr. Sayed Rashidul Hassan YTC Chairman attended as the chief guest. Dr. Ataur Rahman, Principal of Indigenous Medical College, Prof. Abu Ahmed Abdullah, Vice Pricipal of Dhaka Commerce College, Shahidul Hoque, of YTC Secretary General and Golam Quader, President of Mirpur Press Club were the special guests. Dhaka Commerce College Principal Professor Kazi Faruky Presided over the program. Anwar Hossain of YTC & Ali Azam of DCC VOA were the Convener and Shafiqur Rahman of YTC and Shafqat Mustafa of DCC VOA were the joint convener of the program.

3. Polio Camp: DCC VOA Fan Club jointly organized a polio vaccination camp in front of the college. Vice Principal Prof Md Mutiur Rahman opened the camp.

4. Blood Donation Program: A blood donation camp jointly organized by DCC VOA Fan Club and other 5 Clubs of Dhaka Zilla VOA Fan Club at VOA Fan club Central office in Dhaka on 25 July 1997. USA 2nd Ambassador Robert Kerr, Red Crescent USA Representative Rabea Mathail, Journalist Gias Kamal Chowdhury, Fan Club Central Organizer Shafiqur Rahman were present at the program. DCC VOA Fan Ali Azam, Faisal Uddin, Nahid, Saiman, Tanmay, Sujan, Ahsan, Rana and Mamun attended the program.

5. Bulletin Publication: The Self-Reliant, bulletin of DCC VOA club was published on 13th September, 1997 edited by Mamun Murad. It is the first Bulletin of Dhaka Commerce College. It is noted that Club President S M Ali Azam, in his interview to VOA said about this project.

6. Recitation Competition: : On 13th September 1997 at the club general meeting a Recitation Competition was arranged. Shuvo, Munni and Sayem secured the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

7. Open Discussion on Princes Diana and Mother Teresa: On 13th September 1997 at the general meeting there was an open discussion on current affairs and Hafiz Sumon discussed on the moral aspect of Princess Diana and Biswajit Shah said on the life and the actvities of Mother Teresa.

8. Praticipation in VOA Central Meeting: On 14th September 1997 club President S M Ali Azam and the General Secretary Faisal Uddin Ahmed participated in the VOA Club Central Meeting at VOA Fan Club Central Office in Dhaka.

9. General Meeting Business: A Special general meeting of DCC VOA Fan Club held on 13th September 1997. President of the club S M Ali Azam described the aims, objects & the projects of the Club. Reports from the General Secretary, Faisal Uddin and Literature Secretary Mamun were given. There were also present the VOA Monitor Sadiq Rauf, Treasure Kashem and the Social Welfare Secretary Shuvo. Club bulletin, VOA Calendar, Poster and cards were distributed among the members.

10. Principal Faruky’s interview to Voice of America: Interview from Principal Professor Kazi Faruky to Voice of America was broadcasted on 20th August 1997. Interview was taken by Rokeya Haidar at VOA’s ÔAmerica Shikha Jagat’. In his 9 minutes interview Prof. Faruky said we had established Dhaka Commerce College without monetary help of others and we would never take any financial help from govt. or foreign bodies. He also said in near future we would raise the college to complete international university.

11. President Azam’s interview to Voice of America: Interview from Dhaka Commerce College VOA Fan Club President S M Ali Azam to Voice of America was broadcasted on 29th August 1997. Rokeya Haidar interviewed his at ÔMitali’. In his 4 minutes interview Ali Azam said the objects and program of this club. He also said that he would make the students aware of the bad effect of the students politics and violence.

Cycling and Skating Club

Goals:
Training Bycycle and Skating;
Tour by Cycle and Skating;
Cycling & Skating Rally to highlight the solution of National Problems;
Awarness about Trafic jam and Road accident;
Incresing uses of Bycycle and Skating;
Movement again Environment and Air polution;
Raise the demand for Cycle Lane in City Corporation;
Action for Cycle Grage in Campus of Educational Institutions, etc.

Activities:
1. Founder President S M Ali Azam visited all the Universities in Bangladesh by bycycle to lighlight the slogan ÔSave Education from Violence.’
2. Founder Secretary Md. Delwar Hossain achieved National Champion Award in Rolars Skating Competition on 31 October 1996.
3. Cycling and Skating Competition for the student organized by the Department of Management at Management Week 1996.
4. Md. Delwar Hossain particepated at the 7th Asian Skating Championship in South Korea from 3rd to 8th September 1997.
5. Rifat student of Markting honours 4th year participated Asian Skating Championship in South Korea in 2013.
6. Jamal Uddin and Anssari Kafi of Bangladesh Debating Society visited Dhaka Commerce College on 6 July 1997 who tour in Bangladesh 7 thousand kilomitre by bycycle.
