Dhaka Commerce College is observing Education Week since November 5, and it will continue up to 11 of this month. In this regard, an inaugural program of 34th cultural and internal sports was at Kazi Faruky Auditorium of the college today on 5 November. The program started with a welcome speech delivered by Professor A. N. M. Mozammel Hossain, the Vice Principal Administration. Shama Ahmad, Associate Professor of Department of Management and convener of cultural committee, delivered her encouraging speech particularly for the students; at the moment of her speech, Tonmoy Sarker, Associate Professor of Department of Management and convener of sports committee, also was on the stage. The special guest Mohammed Maksedur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner of Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, delivered his speech emphasizing the importance of maintaining discipline by students. The chief guest Mohammad Abdul Mabud, Additional DIG (Admin and Finance), Dhaka Range, Bangladesh Police, spoke inspiring and directing students in the program in regard to discipline. Giving importance to following discipline in uniform, he addressed students, “When you are in college uniform, you embody Dhaka Commerce College. So, your behavior must not be against you college discipline and its reputation at any rate.” After his speech, he declared the inauguration of Education Week 2025.
The last speaker of the program was Professor Dr. Kazi Fayz Ahamed, the Principal (Acting) of the college, and president of the program. He wished success of 35th Education Week and expressed determination to maintain discipline of the college.
Students are participating in different cultural and sport competitions. Today they participated in competitions of chess, recitation from the Quraan, hamd-naat, recitation from Gita and patriotic songs. Prizes and certificates will be distributed among winners in a prize giving ceremony later on.
